The Fort Ross 2012 Bicentennial Committee is inviting you to join the year-long celebration of Colony Ross. Fort Ross (originally, Krepost Ross — Fortress Ross) was the hub of the southernmost Russian settlements and the deepest vanguard into North America. In 1812, on a stretch of the Pacific Ocean eighty miles north of San Francisco, Russian explorers established Colony to produce food to support the Russian settlements in Alaska, as well as to expand the valuable sea otter trade. Especially for this historical and cultural event Klondike Travel is offering fascinating journey visiting Fort Ross and other places associated with Russian America including Alaska, now the biggest state of the USA.
