The Fort Ross 2012 Bicentennial Committee is inviting you to join the year-long celebration of Colony Ross. Fort Ross (originally, Krepost Ross — Fortress Ross) was the hub of the southernmost Russian settlements and the deepest vanguard into North America. In 1812, on a stretch of the Pacific Ocean eighty miles north of San Francisco, Russian explorers established Colony to produce food to support the Russian settlements in Alaska, as well as to expand the valuable sea otter trade.

The VISIT USA Russia opens up new horizons for skiers in the U.S.

The Visit USA first presents new ski resorts in Utah and Wyoming in the United States to Russian tourists and travel agencies. Consistently implementing the policy of expanding the opportunities for travel in the U.S. for Russian tourists, Visit USA members organized a fam tour for tourism professionals December 5-16, 2011 in the US states not previously represented in the Russian market.

Already commonly recognized as the snow & heli-ski capital of North America, Alaskan city Valdez is currently on pace to break its own snowfall record of 14.24 meters set in the winter of 1989-90. As of January 14, the town of Valdez had already received 8.18 meters of snow. And it’s only January! Undoubtedly the snow will be creating new ski lines or perfecting old ones. GVB Welcomes First Russian Family on Guam Since Visa Parole Authority

On January 17, 2012, the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) welcomed the first Russian visitors since the U.S. Department of Homeland Security approved visa parole for Russian citizens on January 15, 2012. The Prudnikovs, a family of four, arrived on Guam via Korean Air under the Guam Russia Visa Waiver Parole Authority. The family is staying at the Pacific Islands Club, a popular hotel with waterpark, and will be on Guam for three weeks. They return to Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Russia on February 6, 2012.
